With the season switching up on us, our hair is bound to get dry. It's inevitable. If y'all remember I did the big chop at the end of September so I'm still bald headed and can't really demonstrate how to keep moisture LOL... So I got some help from naturlista Mary Gaskins Hey guys so I'm back with a post on moisture. It's one of the most frequently asked questions in the natural hair community especially if you have low porosity hair. What is low porosity hair? Well in simplistic terms it's hair that struggles to let in moisture but once moisturized it holds onto moisture. Since I have low porosity hair I instill moisture in EVERY step of my cleansing and styling routine. Here's my routine.
1. Use a Moisturizing Shampoo or Co-wash. 2. Condition and detangle. 3. Apply Deep Conditioner section by section thoroughly work product in using cap and heat / or steamer for at least 30 mins. 4. Rinse Deep Conditioner. 5. Apply Stylers My stylers are layered in the following order : Leave in ( optional) Gel/ or cream styler Followed by hair oil ( I prefer finishing my layering with an oil since oil is a sealant and will seal in all the moisture I have instilled in my hair) These are the steps that keep my low porosity hair conditioned soft and most of all moisturized.

For those who follow me on Facebook might remember the status below. This thought has been lingering in my head for a while. The fact I never learned how to care for my natural hair feels so odd. Feels like an undiscovered part of myself. Don't get me wrong, I recall how my natural hair looks and feel. I even attempted to go natural before but quickly gave up because I wasn't willing to learn how to style it once it got a certain length I naturally have thick long curly hair. When I was in 8th grade is when got my first relaxer. I cut it in a short pixie cut in high school and been getting relaxers ever since. This time I'm determined to learn how to care for my natural hair! I'm sick of putting chemicals in my hair that makes it feel so dry and brittle. So this time, I cut all my chemically relaxed hair off, and surprisingly, I LOVE IT! I have gotten so many compliments! I'm going to start recording my progress so join me on this amazing hair journey, It's going to be a long and curly ride. ( We both know that joke was lame but just laugh so I can feel better)
Have you ever asked someone where they got their outfit and they catch amnesia? They be like: "ummm this skirt? Girl I don't even remember". Knowing they just got it, lol. I never understood that! Well I'm not like that at all. I will let you know where I got my things. Check it out:
I've been a little... let me rephrase that because I couldn't even finish lying. I have been VERY lazy with my hair. All I do now is grab a scarf (like the ones you wear around your neck), wrap in a style, then slick my edges with some gel! Easy Peasy! Plus its super protective for your hair.
