Ok! So chilling on the couch with snacks watching Netflix is my guilty pleasure. Me and the Hubs live for a great show. Let me tell you whats good to watch so you can just skip past the rubbish... The OfficeI LOVE THIS SHOW!!! Steve Carell is freaking hilarious and is the main character. The show is about a paper company in Scranton, PA and it is documentary styled. Sounds boring? Trust me its far from it. I have literally cried laughing a couple of times. 3rd Rock from the SunWhen this show first came out (1996) I wasn't that interested. But now I can appreciate this quick witted-quirky type of humor. Dick, Harry, Sally and Tommy are actually aliens experiencing human life, such a different concept.

Once again I did something most people consider odd. But unlike other things like hobbies, taste of music, and interest, this "odd" thing was a life choice. I got married!! Sounds pretty normal right? I thought so too until people started asking my age right after seeing my ring finger. I'm 24 years old and according to society I'm too young to be settled down. They say I've lost my freedom and I'm supposed to be free and exploring the world!
Of course I don't believe that, but I am part of the generation called "millennial". If you're not familiar with that term it's the generation that was born from early 1980's to the early 2000's.The median age at first marriage is now 27 for women in 29 for men. That has increased greatly considering in 1960 it was 20 for women and 23 for men! So how do I feel being an oddball of my generation? I feel accomplished. Marriage isn't a ball and chain! Yes I can't just up and do stuff like I'm single, but thats so far from losing my freedom. I literally get to share life with my closest friend. I can travel and explore the world with him by my side. At 1am we can make dumb trips to Dairy Queen for a late night snack. We can dance in the rain, laugh till we cry, and eat pizza in our underwear. So if you think marrying "young" equates freedom lost, you are wrong. Trust me, I went against the odds and I'm happier than I could ever be. |
