You may dismiss my thoughts on skinny shaming thinking "skinny girls are always used for clothes, to advertise products, and just basically anywhere to convey beauty". You're right , you are completely right. Still, believe it or not it is not easy being a skinny woman. (Honestly, the issue extends beyond skinny shaming and I'll explain that later.)
Skinny shaming is a very vulnerable subject for me to talk about. I've heard comments and insulting jokes about my size my whole life. It is really interesting that when someone says "you're so skinny" it's rarely said as a compliment. Being skinny has always been my insecurity but more so now in my twenties. Being shapely with curves is closely linked to being womanly. So me not being curvy and addition with rude comments about my size makes me feel like I'm lacking something in my womanhood. The way I feel may mostly be from over analyzing. Some may look at me and not see what I see, The true problem is this.. we live in a "black v.s white" world, meaning if you prefer one thing you have to diss the other. There is no "grey area". For example (true story) I had two friends; we'll name them Bria and Stacey for now, lol. We were trying on clothes at a store and nothing was fitting Bria right. As I was leaving the dressing room I overheard Bria saying "I wish I was Jasmine size nothing is fitting me, I'm so fat". To cheer her up Stacey said "Jasmine is super skinny, you'll even out soon. Plus guys dont like skinny girls" You see what I mean now? Stacey most likely didn't see anything wrong with what she said. She was just trying to make Bria feel better and reiterating the well known slogan "bones are for dogs, meat is for men". That's the true issue here... In this world its skinny v.s curvy, light skin v.s dark skin, straight hair v.s. curly, and cats v.s dog ( welllll..... I actually don't like cats all that much but you get the point). I'm not saying you CAN'T have a preference. But why not change "v.s" with "and" and celebrate variety? Dissing one category to make another category better is not the solution. It's the problem.

You just made me a fan. I'm going to follow your blog. I love this. Awesome points Jasmine. You were born the way you were born, i hate when people classify what people like based on what's physical. That's like saying no one likes people born like that. ????? Instead of saying the store caters to a smaller framed clientele, we bash the clientele...
